The origins of cooking are obscure. Primitive humans may have tasted roast meat for the first time by chance, when the flesh of a beast killed in a forest fire was found to be more palatable and easier to chew and digest than the customary raw meat. They probably did not intentionally cook food, though, until long after they had learned to use fire for light and warm. The earliest prepared dish was a crude paste made by mixing water with the cracked kernels of wild grasses. This paste, toasted to crustiness when dropped on a hot stone, made the first bread.
Culinary techniques improved with the introduction of pottery, the domestication of livestock, and the cultivation of edible plants. Bread making probably originated in Egypt. Different cooking techniques were started around the world. Techniques that allowed ancient civilizations to preserve their goods and move to other lands. Farming techniques was a vita. Improvements in farming efficiency began slowly and then accelerated. Farming began c. 10,000 BC on land that became known as the Fertile Crescent. Hunter-gatherers, who had traveled to the area in search of food, began to harvest (gather) wild grains they found growing there. They scattered spare grains on the ground to grow more food. By around 9000 BC, people were storing grains during the winter, then sowing them in specially cleared plots. By 8000 BC, the farmers had discovered which grains gave the best yields and selected these for planting. They produced more food than they needed and were able to feed non-farmers such as craft workers and traders. Farming and the domestication of animals brought stability and growth to civilization.

In the current days, most of men and women around the world are busy most of the day; thus, have no time to enjoy cooking or preparing hot drinks. As a result, the modern and kitchens include time saving cooking appliances and gadget to help people cook easier and faster. Also, most cooking appliances are focus in making cooking dishes in simpler steps.
In old times we spent most of our time for cooking and preparing large meals. Apart from the new technologies, ready-to-eat food plays an important role in food markets. It is very useful for someone who is often busy. Instead of spending hours in the kitchen, all that person needs is a couple of minutes. Also, meals come in more portable sizes easy to carry everywhere. The internet and use of computer/mobile applications has made it easier for people to access recipes and ingredients from all over the world.
In main cities, where space is limited, people have to deal with small kitchens. Therefore, smart and incredibly compact appliances are a must. More and more companies are focusing in the production of cooking tools and appliances that can perform more than one task. Sleek and multitasker appliances have become best sellers and essentials to many.
Another important aspect about cooking is that people have become more knowledgeable about ways to live healthier opting to steam their meals. More steam cooking appliances have become available, appliances that help food retain its original color and taste. An extensive variation of salads and the production of organic products have become trends of the present.
Ready to Make Meals in a Box:
People’s relationship to food is changing. This could be due to different circumstances. One of them could be the way we will be growing our food, storing it; and even the way of cooking, eating, living and working in the kitchen. As the world changes, things will have to be more efficient. Appliances will have to have more functions than they first designed with. For example, the rice cooker starting to have functions such as steamer, slow cooker and so on. Although, nowadays we can find a few appliances with many uses, they still need more development to follow future advancements and busy life style.
While the technology is developing, more and more dreams that people had twenty or thirty years ago starting to come true. Appliances of the future include smart technologies that will be able to tell what type of ingredient it is in touch with thus providing nutritious information and recipes.
Vegetables and fruits will be at center stage. Small portions like tapas will dominate the table, where quality of ingredients will be the focus over quantity of ingredients. People are realizing they don’t have to eat as if there is no tomorrow. There seems to be interest in smaller portions. It will make a real difference in how many calories we are eating. People will realize that by making small changes, they and their families can eat better.
Changes towards efficiency, simplicity and positive ways to impact our health will be part of the future.
